According to Tech Crunch, 45% of children 10 years old or younger have smart phones. Americans are spending an average of 5 hours daily on their smart phones. This statistic has grown tremendously over the past few years and is slated to continue. Although sales of smart phones have slowed down globally, it is fascinating to see why parents are buying their children phones today.
That is all good and fine. However, why are children doing on those phones today? Approximately half are using the internet and making live video calls from their phones. The implications for those who are marketing to children are enormous. In fact, with the constant improvements tracking consumer information and behavior on social media, google and other internet sties, it will be interesting to watch the next decade of consumerism unravel in the U.S.
